New Zuora Features and Enhancements

Billing & Subscription

Custom Invoice Template: New Filter Excludes Invoice Transactions on Previous Transactions Table

The previous transactions table on custom invoice template has a new table filter, <<TableFilter:HideTransactionType Invoice>>. The previous transaction table lets you show all previous transactions (invoice, payments, adjustments, refunds) since the last invoice or for the last number of days. With this new filter, you can filter out the invoice transactions.

When you filter out invoice transaction types since the last invoice, the  <<Account.PreviousTransactionStartAmount>> will include the previous invoice's amount. The result is a more intuitive Starting Balance — the balance from your previous invoice.

See Display Previous Transactions Data for more information.

Custom Invoice Template: New Filter Aggregates Similar Invoice Items on Charge Summary Table

You must upgrade your templates to the invoice file generation service to use the GroupBy table filter. For instructions on how to upgrade, see Upgrade to New Invoice File Generation Service.

A new table filter <<TableFilter:GroupBy>> is available to use in the charge summary table of your custom invoice templates. This filter aggregates similar invoice items into one line and sums the values for charge amount, tax and total.

The GroupBy table filter currently supports four fields. To be aggregated, invoice items must share identical values for all four fields:

  • Subscription RatePlanCharge object:
    • Custom field
  • InvoiceItem object:
    • ServicePeriod
    • ChargePeriod
    • ChargeType

Edit Rate Plan Charge Custom Fields Supported by Update Product Amendment

Update product amendments now have the ability to edit the custom fields of rate plan charges with a charge type of recurring or usage. This enhancement applies to update product amendments performed in the Zuora application, and with any version of the Zuora SOAP API. You cannot edit custom fields by creating an update product amendment with Mass Order Entry.

See Update a Product for information on update product amendments.

New ChargeId Field for InvoiceItem

A new field, ChargeId, has been added to the InvoiceItem object. When an InvoiceItem object is created, the object reference ID of its associated RatePlanCharge object is stored in ChargeIdChargeId is protected from changes by amendments and will always refer to the original RatePlanCharge object.

Zuora recommends you use ChargeId instead of RatePlanChargeId when obtaining charge data from InvoiceItem.

See InvoiceItem for more information on ChargeId.

Payments

Allow Editing of Additional Fields for ACH and Credit Card Payment Methods

The following fields can be edited from the Customer Accounts page:

Payment Method

Fields

ACH

  • ABA Routing Number

  • Account Type

Credit Card

Credit Card Type

New Field Added in the GlobalCollect Configuration

A new field, called Collection offset (days) has been added in the GlobalCollect configuration page. This field tells GlobalCollect to delay collection of a UK Direct Debit payment by the specified number of days. The default is five days.

Zuora recommends setting the field to five days. This accounts for the delay of setting up a mandate and the initial payment that is immediately processed by Zuora. If the acquisition flow considers this delay already, then the offset should be reduced to accelerate collections of recurring payments.

See GlobalCollect Payment Gateway for more information.

European Bank Transfer Types Support Being Phased Out

With the adoption of SEPA by most European countries, the following bank transfer types will no longer be supported:

Country Direct Debit Type
Austria Lastschrift AT
Belgium Domicil
France Demande De Prelevement
Germany Lastschrift DE
Italy RID
Netherlands Automatisch Incasso
Spain Orden De Domiciliacion

Customer Notifications for Payment Method Status Updates

We have added new notifications for when a payment method is updated or closed, as well as when a payment method updater batch starts and completes.

See Viewing the Supported Event Types for more information.

Accounting Codes Must Exist Before Requesting Them in Zuora API Calls

New Zuora Tenants — Starting as of this Release

Zuora now requires that accounting codes are created in Zuora Chart of Accounts before including them in SOAP or REST API calls. In previous releases, you could pass text as an accounting code through the Zuora API if the accounting did not exist. This behavior is deprecated.

If you try to pass an accounting code that does not exist, the following error message is returned:

The specified Accounting Code {name} with a type of {type} cannot be found in the Chart of Accounts

For Z-Finance users, see Set up Chart of Accounts for steps on how to create accounting codes. For all other users, see Set up Chart of Accounts

Existing Zuora Tenants

No change. Accounting codes are auto-created if they do not exist when making SOAP or REST API calls. This behavior is allowed for backward compatibility.

Over time this behavior will no longer be supported. Zuora recommends that you update your processes and update your API code in compliance with the new standard.

Platform & Cloud

Ability to Control Data Access

Access to this feature requires a specific edition of Zuora. See Zuora Editions for details. Get in touch with our sales team through zuora.com for specific terms and pricing.

Data Access Control allows you to have greater control over what your users see within Zuora, by placing tags on accounts and products. Users will only be able to see the specific business data that their administrators have allowed them to see.

See Data Access Control for more information.

WSDL Version

For Release 179, the WSDL version is 59.0. See The Zuora WSDL for information about downloading the current version.

Resolved Issues

The following issues were resolved for this release.

Billing

Account.NewBalance Incorrect on PDF Invoices after Invoice Split

After posting a split invoice, the value of the mergefield Account.NewBalance was incorrect on the generated invoice PDF. Account.NewBalance now displays correct values on invoice PDFs.

Invoice Custom Fields Set to Null after Invoice Split

Splitting an invoice caused all custom fields of the resulting Invoice objects to be set to null. In the Zuora application, the invoice detail pages for the split invoices showed the custom field picklist(s) as unset. Now, split invoice objects have the same custom field values as the original invoice, and these are correctly displayed on their invoice detail pages.

Commerce

Ability to Disable the Salesforce Matching Org ID Validation

A new tenant-level permission was added to control whether to check for the one-to-one matching between Salesforce Org and Zuora. In the tenants with this permission turned on, the Matching Org ID validation is disabled, thus allowing your users to send quotes from multiple Salesforce Orgs to one Zuora tenant. The Salesforce Org used for Zuora Quotes processing does not need to be the same Salesforce Org used for Zuora 360 Sync.

If you use Zuora Quotes in asynchronous mode when the quotes are sent to Z-Billing, this permission must not be enabled.

Submit a request to have the new permission turned on for your tenant. This feature should be used only with the assistance of Zuora Professional Services.

Submit a request at Zuora Global Support to enable this feature or service.

Product Catalog List View Showed Only Six Items per Page

When initially opened, the Product Catalog List View displayed only six items per page. Now the list correctly shows 25 items per page in any mode.

Tiered with Overage Pricing Charges Created Through SOAP API Did Not Contain Consecutive Tier Numbers

The tiers now correctly contain the consecutive tier numbers when creating multiple charge tiers through SOAP API on a Tiered with Overage Pricing type charge of the ProductRatePlanCharge object.

Incorrect ID in Zuora__SubscriptionProductCharge__c.Zuora__RatePlanId__c

In Zuora 360, Zuora__SubscriptionProductCharge__c.Zuora__RatePlanId__c contained an incorrect ID of the product rate plan. Now the Zuora_SubscriptionProductCharge_c object now contains the correct subscription rate plan ID in the Zuora_RatePlanId_c field.

Platform & Cloud

Resetting or expiring Zuora passwords no longer requires SSO-enabled Zuora users to reset their Zuora password

If the Zuora Administrator resets the passwords of all the Zuora users in the tenant, SSO-enabled users do not need to reset their Zuora password. Resetting or expiring Zuora passwords no longer affects SSO-enabled Zuora users.
