Enhanced override for Included Units and Number of Periods in amendments

We made it easier to override the Included Units and Number of Periods values on Rate Plan Charges when creating a new product or update product amendment. This enhancement applies to amendments created from both the Zuora user interface and through the SOAP APIs under the following conditions:

  • You are making a new product or update product amendment
  • The product includes a usage rate plan charge with Overage Pricing or Tiered with Overage Pricing charge models
  • The smoothing model is set as rolling window
  • The rolling window parameter Overage Option when Smoothing is based on selected options (see the following tables)

See Overage Smoothing Charge Model for details on this enhancement. See Rate Plan Charge for detailed descriptions on the IncludedUnits and NumberOfPeriods fields.

Apply credit balances to invoices through subscribe() and amend() SOAP API calls

It is now possible to apply credit balances to invoices through the Zuora SOAP API. Previously this feature was only available through the Zuora application user interface.

Both subscribe() and amend() SOAP API calls have been enhanced with this feature. The SubscribeOptions and AmendOptions objects now contain a new field, ApplyCreditBalance. If you set ApplyCreditBalance to TRUE when calling subscribe() and amend() any credit balance on the customer's account is automatically applied to the invoice.

You must be on WSDL version 54.0 or higher to use this SOAP feature. See The Zuora WSDL for information about downloading the current version.

Commerce

We've added support for ACH (Automated Clearing House) as a new payment method type for your Hosted Payment Method (HPM) pages. Now your customers have more payment options – with ACH  they can choose to pay directly from their bank account.

We've added Bank Transfer - ACH as a new drop-down option when creating a new Hosted Payment Method page for the ACH payment method. The Create New Hosted page for ACH has the same features as existing payment method types, such as previewing the page and sample HTML code for embedding and testing in your website. In addition to basic information and payment gateway information, the following ACH-specific fields are required and enabled by default:

  • ABA/Routing Number
  • Bank Account Number
  • Account Type
  • Bank Name
  • Name on Account

See Configure Hosted Payment Methods Pages for more information.

New ability to set non-sensitive fields in Hosted Payment Pages

You can now set format input fields between your website and the embedded Zuora HPM page. For example, you can set the Zuora payment method Bill-to information based on the Ship-to information a subscriber has entered on your website.

By adding the JavaScript ZXD.postMessage function to your website, you can copy field input values to the embedded HPM iFrame. All non-sensitive fields are supported.  Financially sensitive data, such as credit card or banking information are not supported.

Implementing this enhancement requires minimal technical effort. We provide the logic and the sample code to help you get started.

See Customizing Hosted Payment Method Pages for more information on how to set input fields in HPM pages.

New drop-down to select State or Province on Hosted Payment Method page

Entering payment information on the Hosted Payment Method page just got a bit easier. Customers can now select their state (for U.S.) or province (for Canada) from a new drop-down list when filling in their Bill-to information.

You can check out this new drop-down when previewing a Hosted Payment Method page.

Ability to execute Product Catalog Sync in parallel with Account & Related Objects Sync

Now you can concurrently execute one sync session for Product Catalog and one sync session for Account & Related Objects, using any sync types of Zuora 360. For example, you can execute a manual Product Catalog sync in parallel with a recurring Account and Related Objects sync.

See Zuora 360 for more information about running parallel sync sessions.

On-Demand Sync goes GA

On-demand Synchronization is generally available in this release. You can trigger an On-demand Sync session, in Salesforce, to synchronize billing accounts or products data from Z-Billing to Zuora Quotes.

See On-Demand Sync for the requirements, installation steps, implementation details, and code examples.

Zuora API users can view Invoice documents and generate Quote documents in Zuora for Salesforce

You no longer have to have the Zuora UI Access permission to view Invoice documents or to generate Quote documents in Zuora for Salesforce. You can view Invoice documents and generate Quote documents as an API-only user specified in the Zuora 360 Zuora Connection setup. Invoice and Quote documents are in in the PDF or Word format.

See Generate a Quote File for detail information about generating a quote file.

Download Accounting Period Summary and Aging Data

In our ongoing effort to help you automate your integration with the general ledger, we now provide two URLs that allow you to directly download accounting period summaries and accounts receivable aging files in a .csv file format.

Use the following URLs to get access, replacing the accounting period id parameter with the ID of the accounting period that the file belongs to:

New data source for Credit Balance Adjustment

Credit balance adjustment data is now available through a new data source.

The Credit Balance Adjustment data source allows you to export this data into a single formatted report, which you can then easily import into other reporting, accounting, business intelligence, and analytic tools.

You can customize your report to include information on accounts, invoices, payments and refunds linked to your credit balance adjustments.

See Credit Balance Adjustment Data Source for more information.

New setting to hide Invoice Adjustment

Resolved Issues

Billing

Removed ability to override Included Units in the update amendment

You can no longer override the Included Units field on the Rate Plan Charge object when updating a product under the following conditions:

  • Calling create() to create an update product amendment and a rate plan, then calling update() to update the Rate Plan Charge. This is the method of updating a product using API versions 24.0 and below. See Updating a Product for more information.
  • The product includes a usage rate plan charge with Overage Pricing or Tiered with Overage Pricing charge models
  • The smoothing model is set as rolling window
  • The Overage Option when Smoothing is set as Apply overage as soon as it occurs.

An error will be returned if you try to send the update() call under these conditions.

Incorrect system user displayed for auto-renew jobs

Auto-renew jobs with optimized parallel threading incorrectly showed the system user, insideview, as running the job.

The correct system user ScheduledJobUser is now displayed when subscriptions with auto-renew enabled are renewed by the system:

02/24/2014 14:15:09,ScheduledJobUser:new amendment date:02/24/2014

This issue was resolved in this release.

Incorrect on-demand usage charges for regenerated invoices

Invoices that were generated, canceled, and then regenerated contained incorrect values for certain usage charges. The incorrect usage charges were those using the Tiered Pricing charge model with Usage Records Rating Option set to On Demand.

This issue was resolved in this release.
