January 2012 New Features

Overview

We are pleased to provide you with a summary of our January, 2012 release, including new features and resolved issues.

New Features

This release includes the following new features and enhancements.

Zuora Billing and Payments

The following features have been added to Z-Billing and Z-Payments.

Improved Support for Mass Usage Upload

In this release, we have added the ability to perform a mass, asynchronous upload of usage records using the Zuora web interface or the Zuora API.

The feature adds the following functionality:

  • You can import zipped comma-separated value (.csv) files using the Zuora web interface or API. In addition, you can import zipped Microsoft Excel (.xls) files using the Zuora web interface. You can import a single file at a time, up to 4 MB in size.
  • You can download the import result in a single, zipped .csv file.
  • You can query records that have been imported successfully using the ImportId field of the Usage object.
  • You can use import notifications to send the import result to one or more users.

Do not perform any processes that will use this data (for example, bill runs) until the usage import is complete.

See Adding Usage Data for more information about loading usage data into Zuora.

Ability to Update Subscription Rate Plan Charge Custom Fields

In this release, we have added the ability to create and update custom fields for subscription rate plan charges.

You can now:

  • Use a New Product amendment in the Zuora interface and Zuora API to set a new value for custom fields on subscription rate plan charges.
  • Use the Subscription Rate Plan Charge detail page in the Zuora interface to update custom fields on subscription rate plan charges when the subscription is in the ActivePending, or Canceled status.
  • Use the update() call to update custom fields on subscription rate plan charges when the subscription is in the ActivePending, or Canceled status.
  • Import custom fields on subscription rate plan charges. Every custom field has the prefix RatePlanCharge_ to indicate that the field belongs to a subscription rate plan charge. The current import template contains custom field columns. You must create a subscription to add custom fields to subscription rate plan charges, and you must use a New Product amendment to set custom fields on subscription rate plan charges.
  • Export custom fields, using the Export Mass Order Entry, Export Subscription, and Export Orders features.

You must have the Custom Field permission set on your Zuora tenant to use this feature. Contact Zuora Global Support for information about enabling this feature.

Resolved Issues

The following issues were resolved in this release.

Billing and Payments

Incorrect Data for Subscription and Invoice Reports

Incorrect Name for Subscription Reports

In previous releases, Zuora created the subscription report with the name RatePlan.csv.

We have fixed this issue in this release. The export file is now named Subscription.csv.

The following issues were resolved in the Zuora API.

The subscribe() Call Did Not Generate Invoices for Pending Subscriptions

In previous releases, you could not use the subscribe() call to generate invoices for subscriptions with the Pending status.

We have fixed this issue in this release.

Invoice Posted via API Notification Did Not Support Amend and Subscribe

In previous releases, the Invoice Posted via API notification did not support invoices created when an amend() or subscribe() call was set to generate an invoice.

We have fixed this issue In this release.
