We are pleased to provide you with a summary of our March, 2011 release.
This release includes the following new features and enhancements.
Zuora's Customer Notifications feature communicates between the Zuora application, the service provider and its applications, and end customers when various events occur in the Zuora application. For example, you can configure Zuora to notify the Bill To contact on a customer account when Zuora determines that a credit card will expire within 30 days. Another example is a service provider who wants to be notified when a scheduled billing run is completed.
The context that triggers the notification is described by a set of events, defined by Z-Billing and Z-Payments. These events are the application or data conditions that Zuora watches for, or checks for at periodic intervals. When an event is triggered, Zuora processes the notification operations that are defined for the triggering event, using email and callout notifications. Email notifications are sent to the end customer, and callout notifications send information to a specified web page or URL. Both types of notifications provide information regarding events that occur in Z-Billing and Z-Payments.
You can use email templates and merge tables and fields to manage the content of notification messages. You can also create communication profiles to manage your notifications for different groups of customers. For example, you can create a communication profile called "Enterprise" and one called "Business." In these profiles, you have the ability to configure the email notifications you want to use for your customers. You can send customers who purchased the Business Edition an email notification when their payment has been declined. However, you may not want to send the same notification to your Enterprise Edition customers.
See Notifications and Callouts for more information about configuring and using the customer notification features.
We are continuing to enhance the Invoice PDF by adding 18 fields that allow you to provide a variety of totals and sums to your Invoice layout. These fields include a subtotal of invoice items generated from one-time charges, net payments associated with the invoice, and a sum of all invoice item adjustments associated with the invoice (including charges and tax). Z-Payments has implemented the Payment Method Updater feature that allows our merchants to use the Visa Account Updater and the MasterCard Automatic Billing Updater. The Z-Payments Payment Method Updater will automatically update the default Visa and MasterCard credit cards with the latest expiration dates and updated account information. We have automated the process to select the cards and submit them using the Visa Account Updater or the MasterCard Automatic Billing Updater prior to each account's bill cycle day. This feature is available for merchants using the Litle & Co processor.
The Z-Payments Payment Method Updater will perform the following tasks:
See Payment Method Updater for more information.
We fixed an issue in the discount charge model that caused invoice subtotals to be rounded incorrectly in certain cases. See Managing Invoice Rules and Templates for more information.
We also added a unique index for the Subscription object to ensure that a subscription name remains unique within a tenant.
