Guided Product Selectors

This article describes the processes for setting up and managing Guides Selling Flows and Guided Selling Steps to create custom Guided Product Selectors.

This setting is effective exclusively in legacy CPQ, however, in CPQ X, you can utilize this setting by enabling the following two settings under Zuora Config Quote Studio Settings Admin Config:

  1. Hide Product Selector Modal for New Subscription Quote Type
  2. Hide Product Selector Modal for Amend/Renew Subscription Quote Type

Process Summary

To create and configure a Guided Product Selector:

  1. Enable the Guided Product Selector setting.
  2. Both in Zuora and Zuora Quotes, create any custom field you want to use in filters for Guided Selling Steps configuration. The filters are described below in this article.
    • Custom fields on the Product and Product Rate Plan objects for the Product Catalog Filter
    • Custom fields on the Product, Product Rate Plan, and Product Rate Plan Charge objects for the End User Product Filters
    • Product Grouping Field on the Product object
    • Mapping Field on the Product object for the Context Filter
    • If there is a custom field, and the name of this custom field is as the same as system platform embedded, then Guided Product Selector would not work. So, custom field name can not be as the same as system platform embedded. For example below:

When you create a custom field, do not use the same name as any Zuora object fields. If you use such duplicate custom field names in Guided Selling filters, Guided Product Selector will not work correctly.

  3. Synchronize the product catalog from Zuora.
  4. Create a Guided Selling Flow.
  5. Create or add Guided Selling Steps to the flow created above.

To use the pre-configured Guided Product Selectors available out of the box, see Select Products in Guided Product Selectors.

To further customize Guided Product Selectors:

Product Relationships

In the Product Relationships section, you set the context of determining which products to show in the this Guided Selling Step. A context filter controls which products are shown in this step based on what was selected in the previous steps or in the current quote. For example, if you set the Mapping Field to a custom field, CountryAvailable, and select a product available in France in step 1, then in step 2, only the products with their CountryAvailable field set to France will appear.

  • Include Context Filters: Click to use a context filter in this step.
  • Mapping Field Name: Click and select a field on the Product object to map. The fields of the Picklist types are available for context filters. The selected field will be used when the products are mapped with the products in the Product Context, namely, Current Flow or Current Quote. Only the products with the matching values in the product context will be listed in this step.
  • Product Context:
    • Click Products Selected in Current Flow to map the products selected in the previous steps. Only the products with the matching Mapping Field values existing in the previous steps will be listed in this step.

Or click this to map the products in the existing subscription of the Amendment Quote.  Only the products with the matching Mapping Field values existing in the current quote (or the subscription in case of an amendment) will be listed in this step.
