Data Exports Overview

Data Exports allow you to readily export data that is conveniently formatted with all the information you need to readily add to other reporting, accounting, business intelligence, or analytic tools. Whether simply adding information into Excel, or importing into a business intelligence engine, Data Source Exports give you the ability to extract the data you need from Zuora in a single report.

This article introduces data exporting. Zuora provides data exports of formatted sets of data and data sources from which you can export data of your choosing. See Data Source Reference for information about using the data sources, and descriptions of the data sources available in Zuora.

After generating a data export, you can download the data export from the Zuora application. Data exports older than seven days are not available for download.

Available Exports

Exports allow you to readily export data that is conveniently formatted with all the information you need to easily add to other reporting, accounting, business intelligence, or analytic tools.  Whether simply adding information into Excel or importing into a business intelligence engine, Data Source Exports gives you the ability to extract the data you need from Zuora in a single report.

Each formatted set of data is confirmed to export either as a CSV, CSV ZIP or PDF. For example, the data export for payment exports as CSV file.

The following table lists the available exports.

Export Data Data Source Object Exported Data
Payment CSV Payments Exports payment data based on a selected time frame and the Payment Status filter: Processed, Error, Voided, and Cancelled.

  • Invoice Status: Posted, Draft, and Cancelled
  • Bill Run Number
  • Invoice Balance
  • Invoice Total
  • Customer ID

The invoice CSV export contains a column, Extended Price. This is the same as the Charge Amount field of the Invoice Item data source

Use the invoice PDF export to aid your collections process. For example, you can export only invoice PDFs for invoices with a balance greater than zero. You can send these invoice PDFs to customers to remind them of their open balances.

If your company uses the Boomi accounting integration, you can export your invoice import file using this method. Only invoices with posted status are exported.

Note: This is only available for Multi-entity.

Export Date Formats

When using WSDL 68 or earlier, the output format of dates and times in data source exports depends on the value. If a time is stored with the date, the resulting data is displayed as a date and time. If no time is stored with the date or the time is 00:00:00, in some cases the result is displayed as a date with no time component. Depending on how data is entered into Zuora, applications that use data source exports may need to accommodate both date and dateTime output formats for the same field.

From WSDL 69 and later, the output format of dates and times depends on the field type. The output from dateTime fields is a dateTime and the output from date fields is a date. For example:

  • A value of 2015-02-13T23:18:00-08:00 is exported from a dateTime field as 2015-02-13T23:18:00-08:00
  • A value of 2015-02-13 or 2015-02-13T23:18:00-08:00 is exported from a date field as 2015-02-13

Data Sources

Data Source Exports is valuable when you need information joined across various objects within Zuora. For example, you can generate compiled data that show:

  • All active subscriptions that are paid for by credit cards which are about to expire
  • Monthly recurring revenue by product and pricing plan
  • A list of Bill To Contacts with Subscriptions that are close to their renew/expire date

The Data Source Exports is available from the Zuora Application and from the Export SOAP API.  See the following:

  • Generate Data Source Exports for more information about exporting data sources from the Zuora Application and for a list of available data sources.
  • Export ZOQL for more information about the Export API, including a list of the data sources and the joined objects.

The Export format for a data source export is CSV or CSV ZIP.
