Using Explorer

Explorer is a central repository of the cards that have been created in your Zuora tenant:

Explorer enables you to browse and manage cards separately from the Dashboard. For instance, you could create two cards that break down the same metric in different ways, but choose to display only one of these cards on the Dashboard.

You can use Explorer to:

  • View and edit cards
  • Export data from cards
  • Create cards
  • Delete cards
  • Pin cards to the Dashboard
  • Unpin cards from the Dashboard
  • Share cards with team members

You can create a maximum of 10 cards in your Zuora tenant.

By default, all Zuora users in your organization can access Explorer and view cards. Zuora platform administrators can manage access to Explorer. See Reporting Roles for more information.

View or edit a card

To view or edit a card:

  1. Navigate to Analytics > Explorer.

    Zuora lists the cards in your Zuora tenant. For example:

    The card list shows all the cards that have been created in your Zuora tenant, by any Zuora user.

  2. (Optional) To show only the cards that you created, click Created by me.

  3. Locate the card to view or edit, then click the title of the card.

    Zuora opens the card. For example:

  4. (Optional) Customize the data shown on the card.

    You can:

    • Select a different metric
    • Filter and group the data
    • Change the aggregation period and date range of the data
    • Change the chart type

  5. (Optional) Customize the title and description of the card.

    To modify the title or description, click the text then edit it directly.

You can only save your changes if you have a Reporting role that includes the Manage Dashboard permission.

Export data from cards

To export the data shown on a card:

  1. Navigate to Analytics > Explorer.

  2. Locate the card to export.

  3. Click the menu icon Explorer_Menu_Icon.png then select Export.

Zuora exports the card's data in CSV format. For example:

In the CSV file, each period is labeled by the starting date of the period.

Create a card

If you have a Reporting role that includes the Manage Dashboard permission, you can use Explorer to create cards.

When you use Explorer to create a card, Zuora does not display the card on the Dashboard. To add the card to the Dashboard, you must “pin” the card. See Pin a card to the Dashboard.

Clone an existing card

To clone an existing card:

  1. Navigate to Analytics > Explorer.

  2. Locate the card to clone.

  3. Click the menu icon Explorer_Menu_Icon.png then select Clone.

Create a new card

To create a new card:

  1. Navigate to Analytics > Explorer.

  2. Click NEW CARD at the top-right.

  3. Select a metric.

  4. (Optional) Customize the data shown on the card. See Configuring Cards on the Dashboard.

  5. (Optional) Customize the title and description of the card.
    To modify the title or description, click the text then edit it directly.

  6. Click SAVE at the top-right.

Delete a card

If you have a Reporting role that includes the Manage Dashboard permission, you can use Explorer to delete cards.

If you want to remove a card from the Dashboard without deleting the card, you can “unpin” the card from the Dashboard. See Unpin a card from the Dashboard.

To delete a card:

  1. Navigate to Analytics > Explorer.

  2. Locate the card to delete.

  3. Click the menu icon Explorer_Menu_Icon.png then select Delete.

Pin a card to the Dashboard

If you have a Reporting role that includes the Manage Dashboard permission, you can add (or “pin”) cards to the Dashboard. When you pin a card to the Dashboard, Zuora displays an interactive view of the card’s data at Analytics > Dashboard. For example:

Before you can pin a card to the Dashboard, you must have created the card. See Create a card.

To pin a card to the Dashboard:

  1. Navigate to Analytics > Explorer.

  2. Locate the card to add to the Dashboard.

  3. Click the menu icon Explorer_Menu_Icon.png then select Pin.

Zuora pins the card to the Dashboard.

You can change the location and appearance of the card. See Configuring Cards on the Dashboard.

Unpin a card from the Dashboard

If you have a Reporting role that includes the Manage Dashboard permission, you can remove (or “unpin”) cards from the Dashboard. When you unpin a card from the Dashboard, you can still access the card via Explorer.

To unpin a card from the Dashboard:

  1. Navigate to Analytics > Dashboard.

  2. Locate the card to remove from the Dashboard.

  3. Click the menu icon Explorer_Menu_Icon.png then select Unpin.

Zuora unpins the card from the Dashboard.

Share cards with team members

Each Zuora user who has access to Explorer can view all the cards that have been created in your Zuora tenant. To help your team members discover cards, you can share cards directly with your team members.

To share a card:

  1. Navigate to Analytics > Dashboard.

  2. Locate the card to share.

  3. Click the menu icon Explorer_Menu_Icon.png then select Share.

  4. Enter the email addresses of the team members to share the card with.

  5. Click Share.

Each team member will receive an email containing a link to the card.
