Add mid-interval updates to ramp deals/non-ramp deals

Zuora Quotes allows you to add a product mid-interval update on a ramp deal. This article introduces the steps to add mid-interval updates, and lists the supported and unsupported use cases.

Add mid-interval updates

Take the following steps to add mid-interval updates:

  1. In your Salesforce organization, click Setup.
  2. Navigate to Create > Objects > Quote Amendment.
  3. In the Field Sets section, click Edit for the Display Amendment Fields field label.
  4. Drag the Contract Effective Date field into the In the Field Set area, and click Save.
  5. Create a new or edit an existing ramp deal. In the Edit Products and Charges step, click Edit Amendment. You can find that the Contract Effective Date field is displayed below the selected product item.

  6. Click the displayed date to change the Contract Effective Date of the charge, then save the change.

    As a result, the Contract Effective Date for the product is updated. Similarly, you can also update the quantity of the product.

Supported and unsupported use cases

Quote type Use case Use case description Supported?

Steps for this use case:

  1. Create a new ramp subscription quote
  2. Update the quantity, effective price, discount at some point in the interval other than the start of the interval. 

As a result, the charge segment splits into two segments:

  • Charge segment 1: The original quantity, effective price, or discount from the beginning of the interval to the date on which the update occurs.
  • Charge Segment 2: The updated quantity, effective price, or discount from the date on which the update occurs to the end of the interval.

Steps for this use case:

  1. Create a new ramp subscription quote
  2. Update the quantity, effective price, discount at some point in the first interval. 

This use case is not supported. When the update takes place, the Edit Amendment action also changes the effective date of the charge. The original charge segment is not retained, and the updated charge segment is changed to start from the date on which the update occurs.
