User Segments in Insights

Users segments in Insights dynamically include users based on event, session, attribute, and metric criteria that you specify using the query builder. User segments are similar to account segments, except that Insights does not provide profile pages for user segments.

Create a User Segment

To create a new user segment:

  1. Navigate to Users.

    The Users page opens and displays a list of users.

  2. Click Create Segment.

    The query builder opens.

  3. Use the query builder to define the segment, as explained in Create a Segment.

    As you define the segment, Insights displays a preview of the users that will be included in the segment.

  4. After you have finished specifying segment criteria, click Save as Segment.

    Instead of saving the segment, you can use the Tag Users button to add tags to the previewed users. You can use the Export button to export data about the previewed users in CSV format.

View the Users in a Segment

To view the users that are included in a user segment:

  1. Navigate to Users.

    The Users page opens and displays a list of users.

  2. In the Segments field, select the user segment to view.

    The Users page lists the users that are included in the selected user segment.

Modify a User Segment

To edit or delete a user segment:

  1. Navigate to Users.

  2. In the Segments field, select the user segment to modify.

  3. From the Options menu button, select Edit Segment Name, Edit Segment Criteria, or Delete This Segment.
