December 2010 New Features

We are pleased to provide you with a summary of our December, 2010 release.

Custom Billing Periods

You can now create custom billing periods in monthly increments (e.g., for 5 months or 14 months) in addition to the currently available billing periods (e.g., monthly, quarterly, annual, semi-annual, eighteen months, two years, three years, and five years).

To access this feature, you must first go to Settings > Z-Billing Settings > Define Invoice Periods and select "Specific Months" as an option under Customize Billing Periods. After this is enabled, you can then create product charges in the product catalog by choosing "Specific Months" as the billing period (please note that this only applies for recurring and usage charges).

Custom Fields on Invoice Item

You may now configure custom fields on invoice items. This feature allows you to update customer fields on the invoice ttems via the API in order to simplify accounting integration (for example, you have the ability to mark specific invoice items that they have been transferred or reconciled with your accounting system). These fields can also be used for reporting, and therefore can be modified regardless of the invoice status (for example, you can modify the custom field even after an invoice is posted). Please note that updating an invoice item custom field will not affect any amounts on the invoice.

To manage custom fields, go to Settings > Z-Billing Settings > Manage Custom Fields > Invoice Detail Fields.

Litle Processor Enhancement

Zuora will now pass in the Zuora Account Number for payments processed using Litle as a Payment Processor. This will aid in payment reconciliation and reporting.

Z-Commerce API

Improved API Support for Overage Charge Model

You can now overwrite the included unit of overage charge via the Subscribe/New/Update Product Amendment API calls. This is useful when you would like the included units on a subscription to be different than what is in the product catalog.

For more information, please refer to the API documentation.

Custom Fields on Invoice Items

Custom fields are now supported on the invoice item; these custom fields can be accessed through the Create(), Update(), and Query() calls on the Invoice Item object. Changes may be applied to transactions in any state (including draft and posted invoices).

For more information, please refer to the API documentation.
