Insights Analysis: View a Breakdown of Subscription Metrics by Product and Month
This tutorial demonstrates how to use Insights Analysis to create a report that breaks down subscription metrics by product and month. You will report on the following subscription metrics:
- Count of new subscriptions
- Average MRR of new subscriptions
- Total MRR of new subscriptions
To create the report:

In your Zuora tenant, navigate to Insights > Analysis.
Insights Analysis opens.

Click Create New Report:
The Datasources page opens.

Select the "Booking Metrics" data source.
The Insights Analysis report builder opens.

Add the following fields to the report:
The "Product: Product Identifying Attribute" field in Row Groups represents a product attribute of your choice, for example Product Name.
When you add the value fields to the report, specify the following configurations:
- Subscription: ID - Summarized by COUNT
- Booking Metrics: Change in MRR (Home Currency) - Summarized by SUM
- Booking Metrics: Change in MRR (Home Currency) - Summarized by AVG
The report provides a breakdown of new subscriptions each month, grouped by the product attribute. For each product, the report tells you how many new subscriptions were added for the product, the average MRR for those subscriptions, and the total MRR for those subscriptions.
The filters restrict the report to new subscriptions only.
Before running the report, you can add additional metrics to the report. For example, you could add the average initial term for new subscriptions.
Insights Analysis displays a preview of the report results:
