Enable Real Time Account Updater on the Checkout.com payment gateway integration

Zuora provides the integration with Checkout.com’s Real-Time Account Updater for credit card transactions on the Checkout.com payment gateway integration. If Real-Time Account updater is enabled in Checkout.com and Zuora, Zuora will receive the latest card information in the payment response from Checkout.com when there is an update to the credit card. The card information in Zuora will be updated according to the payment response. If Real-Time Account Updater is only enabled in Checkout.com, Zuora will not acknowledge the update in the payment response.

The following card updating scenarios are supported:

  • The card number has changed.
  • The card expiration date has changed.
  • The card has been closed by the issuer and is no longer valid. The invalid card will be displayed in the payment method list in the closed status.
  • The card was updated but the updated details are not in the Account updater service. Reach out to the cardholder to get the updated card information.

To enable Zuora’s integration with Checkout.com Real-Time Account Updater, complete the following tasks:

  1. From this article, download the following public key files, which will be used to enable Real Time Account Updater in Checkout.com in the next step.

  • For a sandbox merchant account: zuora_rtau_rsa_2048_public_key_test.pem
  • For a production merchant account: zuora_rtau_rsa_2048_public_key_production.pem
  • Download the public PGP key files provided by Zuora for Sandbox and Production, and configure these key files to your Checkout.com account. 

  1. Contact Checkout.com Support Team to enable Real-Time Account Updater for your merchant account. Include the following information and file in your request:

  • You want to enable Real-Time Account Updater.
  • You want to receive the encrypted_card_number field in the payment response.
  • The public key file 

  1. In Zuora, set up or configure a Checkout.com payment gateway instance.

  2. Contact Zuora Global Support to enable Real Time Account Updater for your tenant in Zuora.

To test the Real Time Account Updater setup, use the test card numbers provided in Checkout.com documentation.
