Manage countries, regions, and subregions

Country, region, and subregion in Zuora are used in the Contact, Payment Method, and other objects. Zuora allows you to customize countries, regions, and subregions to meet your business needs.

This article describes how to manage countries, regions, and subregions in the Zuora UI, such as creating or updating countries or subregions.

View countries or regions

To view countries or regions, perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Administration > Manage Countries, Regions and States.
    All countries and regions are listed on the Manage Countries, Regions and States page with information such as name, ID, ISO-2 code, ISO-3 code, and status.
  2. Optional: Filter countries and regions with the search box or the following provided filters:
    • ISO-2
    • ISO-3
    • Name
    • Status
  3. Locate the country or region that you want to view, and then click the name.
    You can find all the information, including names in other languages, on the detail page.

View subregions of a specific country or region

To view subregions of a country or region, perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Administration > Manage Countries, Regions and States.
  2. Locate the country or region to which the subregions you want to view belong.
  3. Click the name. All subregions that belong to the country or region are displayed with information such as subregion name, code, and status.

Create a country or region

To create a country or region, perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Administration > Manage Countries, Regions and States.
  2. Click Add New Region.
  3. In the Add New Region window, enter the following information:
    • ISO-2: the two-letter ISO alpha-2 country code
    • ISO-3: the three-letter ISO alpha-3 country code
    • Name: the English name of the country or region
    The values for these fields must be unique across all countries and regions.
  4. Optional: Specify names in other languages.
    1. Click + Add Other Languages.
    2. Select a language. Available languages are as follows:
      • French
      • Spanish
      • Japanese
      • German
    3. Enter the name in the selected language.
    4. Repeat steps a to c to add all languages as needed.
    The country name displayed in the Zuora UI is based on the language setting in your user profile.
  5. Switch the Status toggle to indicate whether the country or region is active or not.
  6. Click Save.

Update a country or region

To update a country or region, perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Administration > Manage Countries, Regions and States.
  2. Locate the country or region that you want to edit from the list and click Edit.
  3. In the Edit Region window, update the following fields as needed:
    • ISO-2
    • ISO-3
    • Name
    To prevent integration issues, the ISO-2 and ISO-3 fields are not editable for countries and regions created by Zuora.
  4. Update or add names in other languages.
  5. Switch the Status toggle to indicate whether the country or region is active or not.
  6. Click Save.

The changes become effective immediately for existing objects that use the updated country or region.

Activate or deactivate a country or region

To activate or deactivate a country or region, perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Administration > Manage Countries, Regions and States.
  2. Locate the country or region that you want to activate or deactivate from the list.
  3. Click Activate or Deactivate.
  4. In the confirmation dialog, click Activate or Deactivate.

Create a subregion

To create a subregion for a country or region, perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Administration > Manage Countries, Regions and States.
  2. Locate the country or region that you want to create the subregion for and then click the name. The country detail page opens.
  3. Click + Add Subregion.
  4. In the Add Subregion dialog, enter the following information:
    • Code: the code of the subregion, up to three characters.
    • Name: the English name of the subregion.
  5. Optional: Specify names in other languages.
    1. Click + Add Other Languages.
    2. Select a language. Available languages are as follows:
      • French
      • Spanish
      • Japanese
      • German
    3. Enter the name in the selected language.
    4. Repeat steps a to c to add other languages as needed.
  6. Switch the Status toggle to indicate whether the subregion is active or not.
  7. Click Save.

Notes and limitations

  • Updating country or region names that are already used in Zuora or downstream systems might cause impacts on reporting, integrations, or webhooks. Ensure that your business will not be affected before doing this.
  • When creating countries or regions, you can use names or ISO codes of existing countries or regions that are inactive.
    Note that names or ISO codes of active countries or regions are not allowed.
  • To prevent integration issues, the ISO alpha-2 and ISO alpha-3 codes of countries and regions created by Zuora are not editable.
