Payment Plan Types
The configured payment plan options are presented to the end user to allow them to purchase access to the product.
For example, you might offer the following payment options:
- A single payment of £10 for one month’s access
- A regular monthly payment of £5 for a 12 month period
- A single payment of £50 for a 12 month period
You define recurring payments in your payment provider, but you define how often a payment is taken from your end user in the Zephr Admin Console.
For example, to set up a one-off payment you would define a monthly recurrence in your payment provider, and a One Off payment for the relevant product in the Zephr Admin Console.
The following payment plan types are always available:
Regular
When you select a Regular payment option, the Product Price and Billing Period are taken directly from your payment provider. However, you might be able to edit the billing cycles.
Add a Regular Plan
To add a Regular payment plan, complete the following steps:
- Select the payment plan to use. You can select a payment plan in the following ways:
- Start entering the name of the payment option in the text box, options that match the characters that you enter are listed.
Select the option to add from the list.
- Select the Or browse payment plans link. Your configured payment options are listed.
Select the range that contains the starting character of your payment option name. The relevant payment plans display.
Select the payment plan to add. The payment plan information displays.
- Start entering the name of the payment option in the text box, options that match the characters that you enter are listed.
- Select the appropriate Billing Cycle radio button to define the billing period. The options are as follows:
- Recurring
Select this to set the next billing period as defined in your payment provider settings.
- Custom
Select this to override the billing cycles defined in your payment provider settings. A text box displays.
Enter the number of times you want to repeat the billing cycle in the text box.
For example, if your payment provider settings define a perpetual billing cycle, you can override the recurrence by entering the number of cycles in the text box.
- Recurring
- Select the Add button to add the payment plan and return to the Add a Product screen. Selecting the Cancel button displays the Add a Product screen without adding the payment plan
One Off
When you select a One Off payment option, the Product Price is taken directly from your payment provider.
This option takes payment at the time of purchase and does one of the following:
The grant is valid for the period specified in Zephr.
- Creates a grant if the end user does not currently have a grant
- Appends a grant to the furthest existing grant held by the end user
Note: When creating the payment form using the One Off payment option, no frequency is displayed in the Select a plan options. For further information on creating a payment form, see the Payment Forms section.
Add a One Off Payment Plan
To add a One Off payment plan, complete the following steps:
- Select the One Off radio button from the Type of Plan options
- Select the payment plan to use. You can select a payment plan in the following ways:
- Start entering the name of the payment option in the text box, options that match the characters that you enter are listed.
Select the option to add from the list.
- Select the Or browse payment plans link. Your configured payment options are listed.
Select the range that contains the starting character of your payment option name. The relevant payment plans display.
Select the payment plan to add. The payment plan information displays.
- Start entering the name of the payment option in the text box, options that match the characters that you enter are listed.
- Enter the period in months for which you want to grant access in the Access Duration text box. This overrides the the billing cycles defined in your payment provider settings
Scheduled Payment Plan
If you use Stripe as a payment provider, the Scheduled Payment Plan option is also available. This is similar to the Regular plan, but you can vary the price charged using staggered pricing. For example, you can offer a year’s subscription that costs £10 a month for the first three months and £20 a month for the remaining nine months.
