Response field mapping

The Response Field Mapping tab allows you to configure how data returned from the tax engine response is stored on the Taxation Item object in Zuora. This is useful for capturing specific tax details, such as jurisdiction, tax authority, or other metadata, directly from the tax engine and storing them for reporting, reconciliation, or audit purposes.

You can define field mappings by specifying:

  • Field Name: The custom or standard field on the Taxation Item object where the value should be stored.
  • Field Path: The path to the value in the tax engine’s JSON response.

For more details on supported mappings, see Flexible Field Mapping.

 Add a field mapping

  1. Go to the Response Field Mapping tab.
  2. Click + Add Field.
  3. In the Field Name field, enter the target field name from the Taxation Item object, for example, taxJurisdiction__c.
  4. In the Field Path field, enter the path from the tax engine response JSON.
  5. Repeat the process for additional fields as needed. To remove a field, click the Delete icon next to it.
