Specific Months List Price

Specific Months List Price Base provides you the capability to set up a recurring charge with a specific months list price in the product catalog, and then sell the charge with a variety of billing periods, for example, monthly, quarterly, every four months, semi-annually, annually, and so on. You can bill subscriptions to generate expected invoices for your end customers.

Prerequisites and enablement

To use Specific Months as a list price base, you must have the Orders or Orders Harmonization feature enabled.

After you set the Specific Months as List Price Base, perform the following steps to activate Specific Months List Price settings:

  1. In the upper right of the Zuora UI, click your avatar, and then click Billing.
  2. On the Billing Settings page, click Define Billing Periods.
  3. On the billing period customization page, select the Specific Months check box in the Customize List Price Base section to activate the Specific Months List Price settings.

Feature overview

With this feature, you can set up recurring product rate plan charges, create subscriptions with recurring charges every specific months, and bill subscriptions can be billed to generate the expected invoices.

For each individual charge, the total billed amount for the specific months charge across multiple invoices sums to the total price.

Supported billing periods

With this feature, you can set up a recurring charge with a list price by using a newly introduced list price base: Specific Months.

  • Two Years

  • Flat Fee Pricing
  • Per Unit Pricing
  • Volume Pricing

Restrictions and limitations

When using this feature, keep the following restrictions and limitations in mind:

  • Subscribe and Amend actions are not supported. You must have the Orders or Orders Harmonization feature enabled.
  • For the When prorating periods greater than a month, prorate by month first, or by day? billing rule, only the Prorate by Month option is supported. Even if the Prorate by Day option is selected, the Prorate by Month option is forced to be used.
  • If your charge start date does not match the start date of first full billing period, then this feature will not be triggered. In that case, the Proration settings specified in the tenant Billing Settings are utilized to calculate the invoice amounts instead. In such cases, depending on the amounts involved, you may notice that the total price summed across multiple invoices may not match the expected total price. To ensure that the Specific Months List Price feature is used accurately, check that the charge start date aligns with the start date of the first billing period. This feature will be refined in a future release to support differing charge start dates and billing period start dates.
