Configure and Install Zuora Payments Standalone
This article contains information to help you configure Zuora Payments Standalone and related settings.
The Zuora Payments Standalone feature is in the Early Adopter phase. We are actively soliciting feedback from a small set of early adopters before releasing it as generally available. If you want to join this early adopter program, submit a request at Zuora Global Support.
Configuring Zuora Payment Standalone involves the following tasks:
Steps | Task | Procedure |

|
Step 3 |
You can import customer accounts from an external system or transfer customer accounts from an existing Zuora environment. Depending on how to set up payment processing, additional account information may be needed. The minimum required information includes account name, contact details, and payment method information.
|
|
(Optional) Step 4 |
Migrating invoice information is an optional configuration step. You may either migrate invoice information from an external source or create new invoice information within your environment. Zuora Payments will not automate the creation of invoices. Zuora Payments will not manage any subscriptions or charges within an invoice or other billing document.

|
Step 5 |
Each environment will be enabled with two applications: Configurable Payment Retry and Configurable Lockbox. These applications require the user to have OAuth credentials.
See Configuration of supporting applications for more information. |
Configuration of supporting applications
The following are the supporting applications:
Create OAuth credentials
To create an Oauth user, navigate to Administrations > Manager Users > OAuth Client. See Create an OAuth Client for a User for more information.
Ensure that you securely store the Client ID and Client Secret while creating the OAuth user. You cannot access this information after the OAuth user creation.
Install Payment Retry
To tailor retry logic and increase collections on failed payment transactions, use Configurable Payment Retry.
To install Configurable Payment Retry, follow the instructions below:
- Log in to Zuora.
- In the left navigation bar, navigate to Marketplace > Purchases > Configurable Payment Retry > Deploy in your Zuora tenant.
- Provide the following information to configure payment retry.
- Name - Name is automatically populated. You can modify it if necessary.
- Run Mode - Select 'Universal'.
- Execution - Select External.
- Build Name - Select Production - US, irrespective of your environment.
- Source, Target, etc - This app requires OAuth credentials. Select the Oauth tenant login for installation.
We strongly recommend using the Configurable Payment Retry feature instead of configuring the basic payment retry rules described in this article. With Configurable Payment Retry, you can set up custom retry logic or leverage AI capabilities to recover failed payments in a more flexible manner.
See Get started with Configurable Payment Retry for more information.
Install Lockbox
Configurable Lockbox improves efficiency by automating payment applications for files received by lockbox banking providers.
To install Configurable Lockbox, follow the instructions below:
- Log in to Zuora.
- In the left navigation bar, navigate to Marketplace > Purchases > Configurable Lockbox > Deploy in your Zuora tenant.
- Provide the following information to configure the lockbox.
- Name - Name is automatically populated. You can modify it if necessary.
- Run Mode - Select 'Universal' run mode.
- Execution - Select External.
- Build Name - Select Production - US, irrespective of your environment.
- Source, Target, etc - Select the tenant login for the app. Few apps or functions require using OAuth, so select the OAuth tenant login for the installation.
See Get started with Configurable Lockbox for more information.
Workflow
Zuora Workflow enables you to design, configure, and deploy business workflows in Zuora. With Workflow, you can automate a set of business processes that would otherwise need to be performed manually. See Get started with Workflow for more information.
