Zuora Quotes and Zuora 360 include support for Salesforce Chatter with roll-up feeds to accounts and opportunities. With Chatter, Zuora CPQ can alert you to significant events and changes in your quotes, subscriptions, and billing information. This article describes how to enable Chatter for Zuora CPQ.

Enable Chatter in Salesforce

To enable Chatter in Salesforce:

  1. Navigate to Setup > App Setup > Customize > Chatter > Settings.
  2. On the Chatter Settings page, click Edit.
  3. Select the Enable Chatter Settings option, then click Save

Zuora Quotes and Chatter

In Zuora Quotes, Chatter feeds from quotes are rolled-up to the opportunity object, notifying followers of the opportunity when a quote is created or updated. 

When a quote of the New Subscription Quote, Amendment Subscription Quote, or Renewal Subscription Quote type is created or updated, the feed will roll-up to the opportunity. 

Enable Chatter for Zuora Quotes

To roll up quote feeds to the opportunity, enable Chatter feed tracking for both the quote and opportunity objects.

  1. Navigate to Setup > App Setup > Customize > Chatter > Feed Tracking
  2. In the Feed Tracking list, select the Opportunity object, then select Enable Feed Tracking. Click Save.
  3. In the Feed Tracking list, select the Quote object, then select Enable Feed Tracking. Click Save.
  4. For both objects, you can select the fields that you want track.  

Customize Chatter feed fields for Quotes

If you are on Zuora Quotes version 9.X, the following fields are displayed in the roll-up feed for the quote object and cannot be customized: 

  • Name
  • Opportunity (Name)
  • Status
  • MRR (For new subscription quotes)
  • TCV (For new subscription quotes)
  • DeltaMRR (For amendment or renewal subscription quotes)
  • DeltaTCV (For amendment or renewal subscription quotes)

Since Zuora Quotes 10.0, the following fields of the Quote object are displayed in the chatter feed of the opportunity by default:

  • Approval Status
  • Delta MRR (For amendment or renewal subscription quotes)
  • Delta TCB (For amendment or renewal subscription quotes)
  • Delta TCV (For amendment or renewal subscription quotes)
  • Discount
  • MRR  (For new subscription quotes)
  • Status
  • Sub-Total
  • Tax
  • TCB  (For new subscription quotes)
  • TCV  (For new subscription quotes)
  • Total

These fields are included in the Chatter Feed On Opportunity field set of the Quote object. The Chatter feed is only posted when the values of one or more of these fields are changed. You can customize this field set by adding new fields or removing existing fields from it.

If you have enabled feed tracking for both Quote and Opportunity, by default, Chatter feeds are posted on Opportunity when quotes are created or updated. However, you can disable the Chatter feed from quote by taking the following steps.

  1. Navigate to Zuora Config > Quote Configuration Settings.
  2. Click Edit Settings.
  3. Select the Disable chatter feed from Quote check box.
  4. Click Save to save the configuration.

Zuora 360 and Chatter

In Zuora 360, Chatter feeds from billing accounts, subscriptions, and invoices are rolled-up to the Account object. All account collaborators are notified when new subscription or billing information is available for the account.

When billing accounts, subscriptions, invoices are created via a sync, the feed will roll-up to the Account object. 

The following fields will be displayed in the roll-up feed:

Subscription Name, Billing Account (Name), Status, CMRR, TCV, Contract Effective Date, Next Renewal Date, Version
Invoice Name (Invoice Number), Billing Account (Name), Status, Invoice Date, Due Date, Total Amount, Balance
Billing Account Name, Parent Billing Account (Name), Status, CMRR, Account Balance, Last Invoiced Date

Deleting billing accounts, subscriptions, and invoice will not generate a feed and roll-up to the Account object, and the Subscription Line Item (Charges) will not roll-up to account.

Enable Chatter for Zuora 360

You must enable Chatter feed tracking to roll up records for each object type that you want to track. 

  • To roll up any Subscription or Invoice feeds to the Account object, you must enable Chatter feed tracking for the Account object. 
  • To roll up Subscription feeds to the Account, you must enable Chatter feed tracking for the Subscription object. 
  • To roll up Invoice feeds to Account, you must enable Chatter feed tracking needs for the Invoice object.  

To enable Chatter feed tracking for an object

  1. Navigate to Setup > App Setup > Customize > Chatter > Feed Tracking
  2. In the Feed Tracking list, select the object that you want to track, then select Enable Feed Tracking.
  3. Click Save.
