Active Session Limits
Zephr now enables administrators to limit the number of concurrent active sessions per user, helping to prevent unauthorized usage.
Active sessions and active session limits
An Active Session is a user session associated with a specific Active Session Limit. A session is marked as "active" when the user interacts with content gated by a rule containing an Active Session Limit. For example:
- An Active Session Limit named Premium allows a maximum of 1 active session and defines an inactivity period of 3 minutes.
- When User A accesses content gated by the Premium limit for the first time, their session becomes an Active Session linked to the Premium Active Session Limit. This session will prevent any other sessions of the same user from accessing this content.
Using this feature, you can:
- Define the maximum number of simultaneous active sessions a user can maintain when accessing certain content.
- Configure the duration (in minutes) an active session remains valid without user interaction.
- Archive session limits that are no longer in use.
Example Scenario:
- Single Limit Usage: User A attempts to access Premium content from two devices.
- Device 1: The session becomes active under the Premium limit.
- Device 2: Access is denied due to the Premium limit allowing only 1 active session. User A must wait for the Device 1 session to become inactive (3 minutes of inactivity) to use Device 2.
- Multiple Limits in Action: You can set several Active Session Limits in your rules to protect certain contents according to their value. For example:
- Premium: Max 1 active session, 3-minute inactivity period.
- Standard: Max 2 active sessions, 5-minute inactivity period.
